Joining a robotics team is a great way to develop relevant skills for adult life, regardless of whether one is interested in STEM or not. Colleges and employers know that students who have participated in FIRST robotics, even for a single year, have developed skills in teamwork, collaboration, business, and many technical disciplines; graduating from this program increases the odds of being accepted into college or getting a job, and these skills are vital in any career path.
Robotics is also a great way to get to know people, just like any other extracurricular activity. Further, the unique experience provided by FIRST Robotics attracts many types of people, so members of this team vary more in their interests and personalities than members of other clubs. This means there are more opportunities to find new friends on the robotics team, and many current members can attest that they have indeed made great friends here!
